For the unversed, the legal dispute between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp became one of the most widely followed celebrity court battles in recent history. The case involved allegations of domestic abuse and defamation claims.

Amber Heard to make Hollywood comeback

According to a report by Radar Online, the Aquaman actress Amber Heard has been planning to make her comeback to Hollywood, four years after the final verdict on the US defamation trial. She has been looking forward to getting back to acting, but it’s quite a struggle for her.

Reportedly, it is not turning out the way she expected, and it’s becoming frustrating now. Additionally, she “reinvented” herself in Spain, and she is happy with her life at the moment with her three children. However, she wants to make her own money.

The report also stated that she is focused on raising her daughter and spends every day with her kids by taking them out for a stroll, visiting parks and enjoying family time. She has three kids, Oonagh Paige Heard and twins, daughter Agnes and son Ocean. After paying Depp the compensatory amount, Heard settled in Madrid.

About the legal case

Johnny Depp and Heard met while filming The Rum Diary and married in 2015. Their relationship quickly went sour, and Heard filed for divorce in 2016, along with a restraining order alleging abuse. However, Depp denied all claims and the divorce was settled in 2017 with a USD 7 million payout to Heard.

The first major legal battle came in the United Kingdom in 2018 when Depp filed a libel lawsuit against The Sun over an article that labelled him a “wife beater”. However, the verdict came against Depp, concluding that the publication’s claims were “substantially true”.

The legal battle then escalated in the United States when Depp sued Heard directly over a 2018 op-ed, she wrote for The Washington Post. The case sparked intense public debate and was highly publicised. The trial was televised, turning into a global spectacle. On June 1, 2022, Depp won the case and was asked to pay a compensatory amount to her ex-husband.
