Amazon Great Indian Festival hits 38 crore visits, 80 lakh orders in 48 hrs

New Delhi: Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival 2025 has started on an explosive note. In just the first 48 hours, the company says it delivered more than 80 lakh products to Prime members across the country. That’s a staggering scale of movement, especially when you consider that a large chunk of these orders were shipped to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

From smartphones and laptops to air fryers and groceries, the mix of orders this time shows how people are spending not just on basics but also on aspirational products.

Record customer visits and Prime deliveries

Amazon revealed that the event registered over 38 crore customer visits in just two days, the highest ever on its platform in India. Interestingly, more than 70 percent of these came from outside the top metros.

Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President, Amazon India, called it their “biggest ever” opening. “The first 48 hours have been our biggest ever, with an unprecedented 38 crore customer visits and the highest number of Prime members shopping during Prime Early Access,” he said.

Prime members saw faster deliveries than ever before. According to the company, more than 30 lakh products were delivered within the same or next day in metro cities, and over 50 lakh products reached customers in smaller towns within 48 hours.

GST savings and category trends

One key highlight this year has been the #GSTBachatUtsav storefront, where sellers passed on GST benefits across essentials, appliances, electronics, and fashion. Customers reportedly saved over ₹260 crore through SBI card offers in just the first two days.

Categories that saw notable growth include:

  • Smartphones above ₹20,000, which grew 50 percent year-on-year
  • Premium TVs like QLED and Mini-LED models, up 23 to 27 percent
  • Kitchen appliances, with eco-friendly units seeing a 50 percent jump
  • Health and wellness products, where vitamins and supplements grew 39 percent

Even niche areas like lab diamonds saw a 10X growth, while Korean beauty products more than tripled.

Small sellers and local businesses

This massive scale wasn’t just about big brands. Over 16,000 small and medium businesses tripled their sales during the festival’s first 48 hours. Two-thirds of participating sellers came from tier 2 and tier 3 towns such as Rajkot, Ajmer, Udupi, and Faridabad.

Abhishek Dhanwani from Rajasthan Kraft India shared his own experience. “The first 48 hours of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 have been nothing short of transformative for my business. As a seller from Ajmer specializing in Festive Decor, we witnessed a 7X increase in our daily sales volume and received orders from customers across India,” he said.

Local shops, too, reported record sales, with many crossing the ₹10 lakh milestone for the first time.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 will continue until Diwali, with fresh deals every day. For now, the numbers show that online shopping in India is no longer just about metros. From small-town families buying their first side-by-side refrigerator to college kids in Udupi ordering Korean skincare, this year’s sale reflects how deep e-commerce has penetrated into daily life.
