A businessman in Hubli had ordered a camera worth ₹60,990 on Amazon. But in the delivery he received washing powder instead of the camera. When he did not get any proper response from Amazon’s customer care, he narrated his ordeal to the media.
In online shopping, you ordered something and something else came out in the box, these stories are not new anymore. Such errors have become common especially on big e-commerce sites like Amazon. But the limit is reached when the customer care of the company does not even pick up the phone after paying thousands of rupees. Something similar happened with a person in Hubli, who got tired of calling Amazon and finally reached out to the media.

The whole matter is that Sharjah-based businessman Alfred had come to Hubli for some work. Here he ordered a camera worth ₹60,990 on Amazon. Payment was also made immediately through debit card. But when the order arrived and he opened the packet, he was blown away. Instead of a camera, packets of washing powder were kept in the box. Alfred had ordered this camera to gift it to a friend coming from abroad, but his whole plan got ruined after seeing surf in the packet.
Customer care did not pick up the phone
Immediately after this he called Amazon’s customer care. But as often happens, there was no response from there. Either the phone kept ringing or it was busy. No one bothered to answer the phone. This attitude sent Alfred’s anger sky high. After a lot of hard work, he finally lodged his complaint with Amazon.
Expressed pain in front of media
After several attempts, a reply came from the company, but that too was evasive. He was told that action would be taken within a week. Angered by this answer, he called the media and told about the fraud that happened to him. He told that the order had been delivered to his hotel address. Two days later the parcel arrived, on opening which instead of the camera, 2 packets of washing powder were found. Expressing grief, he said, “Even after complaining to Amazon, no one is responding properly. I have bought a lot of goods from Amazon while living in Dubai, there was never any problem there. But here in India, I got cheated.”
