After this incident, fans have started discussing the poor quality of the jersey and ball used in the match. The white ball used in the first match between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen turned red shortly after the start of play. This incident shocked the players and fans.

This match was being held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Just a few overs after the start of the game, the color of the ball slowly started changing. Seeing the white ball turning red, Hyderabad team captain Marnus Labuschagne immediately went to the umpire. Labuschagne said, “Just after the second over, I went to the umpire and asked, ‘What is happening? Why has the ball turned red?’ I have never seen anything like this in my entire cricket career.”
Why did the ball change color?
Later, the secret behind the change of color of the ball was revealed. Actually, the color of the maroon colored jersey worn by the players of Hyderabad Kingsmen had got stuck on the ball. When players were rubbing their jerseys to make the ball shine, the color of the jersey got transferred to the ball. Labuschagne expressed surprise, “I have seen the color of the bat’s paint or pad getting onto the ball. But this is the first time that I am seeing the color of the cloth getting onto the ball.”

Along with the poor quality of the jerseys, a new rule implemented in the PSL is also creating a lot of discussion among the fans. The dew that falls during night matches in the subcontinent greatly benefits the team winning the toss. To prevent this, each team has been allowed to submit two different team lists before the toss. After the result of the toss, the captain can choose the playing eleven as per his requirement. This new rule has been brought so that the loss caused to the bowlers when the ball gets wet due to dew can be reduced.
