To escape a loan of Rs 50 lakh, a Gujarati businessman faked his death in Kerala. Police found him working as an Uber driver in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru: A businessman from Gujarat with a business worth lakhs. He had gone to Kerala for a deal in connection with his business. There he talked about the business of rubber bands and other products. After the deal, he sent a photo of a river to his wife and messaged that ‘I don’t feel like living anymore’. Frightened, the wife reached Kerala and lodged a police complaint. Police started investigation. The businessman’s diary and some items were found near the river. Divers were called and a search was conducted in the river, but no clue was found. The suspicion of her husband jumping into the river was beginning to deepen. But, the police investigation took an interesting turn. Kerala Police directly reached Bengaluru and during the search, the same businessman was found working as an Uber driver.
Hunani Siraj Ahmed Bhai’s Kerala Tour
Hunani Siraj Ahmed Bhai, a businessman from Gujarat, had come to Shoranur in Palakkad district of Kerala for rubber business. He met and talked to some rubber companies and dealers. After sealing the deal, he also told about a big business plan in Gujarat.

Siraj Ahmed Bhai sent a photo and a message to his wife on WhatsApp. He had sent a photo of himself near the famous Bharatpuzha river of Kerala. Also sent a message, which meant ‘don’t live anymore’. After this his phone got switched off. There was no trace of Siraj nor was anyone able to contact him.
Kerala Police started search
On the complaint of the wife, Kerala Police started the search. They called divers and searched the river for 2 days, but no clue was found. When the police scanned the surrounding CCTV footage, it was found that Siraj Ahmed had returned from the river bank. Further investigation revealed that he had gone to Bengaluru. Kerala Police team reached Bengaluru and started the search. Here Siraj Ahmed was found working as an Uber driver. When the police took him into custody and interrogated him, he told the whole story behind faking his death.
50 lakh loan, drama of death due to failure to repay
He had incurred a debt of Rs 50 lakh in business. He was fed up with the daily demands of the loan sharks. So he faked his death so that he could go somewhere else and live a life of anonymity. The police produced him in the district court, after which he was released. This drama created to escape from debt backfired. Now the news is that his wife has asked for time to repay the loan.
