When will Amavasya date last in March 2026?
According to the Panchang, the Amavasya date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month will start from 08:25 am on Wednesday, March 18, which will continue till 06:53 am the next day i.e. Thursday, March 19. In this way, there is a coincidence of Amavasya date on both 18th and 19th March.

According to Astrologer Pt. Dwivedi, the offering of ancestors is done during the Kutap period. This time is between 11.30 to 12.30 in the morning. Amavasya Tithi will be on Wednesday, March 18, hence offerings to the ancestors will be made on this day. This will be called Shraddha Amavasya. The next day i.e. Thursday, March 19, sunrise will occur on Amavasya Tithi. It would be best to take Amavasya bath and make donations related to it on this day. This will be called bathing-donation Amavasya.
Chaitra Navratri will start coinciding with Amavasya
This time Chaitra Navratri will start coinciding with Amavasya Tithi. After Amavasya Tithi till 06:53 am on March 19, Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi will start, due to which Chaitra Navratri will start from this day. Festivals like Gudi Padwa and Ugadi etc. will also be celebrated on this day. Hindu New Year Vikram Samvat 2083 will also start from this day.
