Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration to begin from April 15, age limits and health certificate mandatory

New Delhi: The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has announced the schedule and guidelines for the Amarnath Yatra 2026. Registration for the annual pilgrimage will begin from April 15, 2026. Devotees can register through all designated bank branches across India.

The yatra will be conducted through two main routes. Pilgrims can choose between the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal route. Authorities have made arrangements to ensure smooth registration and crowd management during the process.

The Shrine Board has also issued clear eligibility rules. According to the official statement, “No Pilgrims who are below 13 and above 70 will be allowed to take up the Pilgrimage.” This restriction aims to ensure the safety of participants due to the tough terrain and high altitude conditions.

Mandatory health certificate required

The Board has made it compulsory for all applicants to submit a valid health certificate. This certificate must be issued by an authorised doctor or a health institution approved by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. Without this document, registration will not be accepted.

The official statement said, “A Compulsory Health Certificate from an authorised Doctor/Health Institution designated by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board is mandatory for registration.” Authorities have stressed that health checks are crucial as the pilgrimage involves physically demanding conditions.

Registration process and routes

Registration will take place through designated bank branches only. Pilgrims need to complete formalities and provide required documents at these centres. Both routes will remain open, giving devotees flexibility to choose based on their convenience and physical ability.

The Pahalgam route is longer but considered less steep. The Baltal route is shorter but more challenging. Authorities advise pilgrims to select the route carefully based on their health and preparedness.

Focus on safety and preparedness

Officials have placed strong focus on safety measures this year. Age restrictions and health certification are part of broader efforts to prevent medical emergencies during the yatra. The administration is also expected to deploy security personnel and medical teams along both routes.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board continues to oversee arrangements and ensure that the pilgrimage takes place in a safe and organised manner.
