Star Hyderabad opener Aman Rao on Tuesday smacked a 154-ball 200 against Bengal in the sixth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, propelling his team to a massive 352/5 in their 50 overs, at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Aman brought up his double hundred with a six off the final delivery of the first innings, the 154th ball he faced on Tuesday, striking 12 boundaries and 13 sixes as he carried his bat.
Rao’s innings is the highest individual score by a Hyderabad batter in List A cricket and the ninth double hundred in Vijay Hazare Trophy history.
The other batters to score double hundreds are Narayan Jagadeesan, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Swastik Samal, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karn Kaushal and Samarth Vyas.
It was Aman’s maiden hundred in senior cricket, a breakthrough that came soon after he was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction.
Put in to bat first, Aman made Bengal skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran reconsider his decision. He and Gahlaut Rahul Singh built a presumably match-winning 104-run opening partnership.
After Rahul was dismissed by Rohit Das in the 16th over, Aman and skipper Tilak Varma added 87 runs for the second wicket.
Hyderabad soon found themselves at 197/3 in the 35th over, before Aman and wicketkeeper Pragnay Reddy added 76 runs for the fourth wicket.
After the latter was dismissed by Mohammed Shami, Aman and Pranav Varma added 43 runs for the fifth wicket.
After Varma was dismissed by Shami as well, Aman and Chama Milind added 36 runs for the sixth wicket to take Hyderabad to the massive score.
