Story of fasting on Amalaki Ekadashi
According to the story described in the Puranas, a city named Vedic was ruled by a Chandravanshi king. The people of this city used to worship and worship Lord Vishnu. He used to observe fast on every Ekadashi as per the rituals. The fast of Amalaki Ekadashi was observed with great devotion in the Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month. Meanwhile, a great hunter arrived in the city. He stopped in Shikari Nagar and started listening to the stories of Lord Vishnu.
Not only this, the hunter awakened the whole kingdom and explained the importance of fasting to the people there. After this he came to his home and slept. He died after a few days. Due to his sins, the hunter went to hell, but he once unknowingly heard the story of Amalaki Ekadashi fast and also did Jagran. Because of this he got the auspicious results of that fast.
He was again born in the house of King Viduratha and his name was Vasurath. Vasurath grew up and one day got lost in the forest. Suddenly he was attacked by bandits, but the attack had no effect on him. Here the king continued sleeping peacefully. When the king woke up, he saw many people lying on the ground around him.
Then a voice came from the sky, “O Vasurath! Lord Vishnu, the protector of the world, has saved you. Because in your previous birth you had observed Amalaki Ekadashi fast and had heard the story.
