Amaal Mallik’s Bigg Boss 19 journey kicked off with a major confession. The popular music composer entered the house with his CPAP machine for sleep apnea.
His breathing and medical condition were mocked on social media and by some of the housemates. Reacting to the mockery, Amaal’s father, Daboo Malik, told Zoom exclusively that the remarks and comments troubled him.
Daboo Malik reacts to trolls
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Daboo reacted to Amaal’s medical condition being mocked. He said, “It troubles me, and we were worried about the conditions he has, but Amaal is giving a fight against all odds. People have to actually appreciate that he has a breathing issue, and instead of hiding, he is showing it to the world. People from the medical fraternity have been calling me and appreciating Amaal for having the guts to show that he is using a device for his sleep apnea to breathe easily. He is open about it because it’s going to help millions of people who are suffering. A man suddenly comes saying that he’s using the device for help.”
He added, “If you see, he is getting better. It fascinates me to see Amaal doing household chores like washing utensils and running errands around the house. That is something very endearing about these boys and girls. They’re handling things, cooking food and doing everything. It is fantastic. I appreciate everyone.”
Amaal on sleep apnea
In the initial episodes of Bigg Boss 19, Amaal told Gaurav Khanna that he has sleep apnea and wears a CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure device to help him keep the airway open to breathe easily. Amaal said. “I snore. I have sleep apnea. I choke. In one minute, I am not breathing for 15-20 seconds while asleep. I tend to choke, and it can be…(threatening).”
