All-New 2025 MG4 EV Launched Globally – Will It Come To India?

MG Motor has globally unveiled the new second-generation MG4 EV electric hatchback. Launched in markets such as China, Europe and Australia, the MG4 EV has been a popular offering by the brand since it arrived in 2022. The new generation MG4 EV was unveiled at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show held in China.

Its main attraction is the under USD 10,000 price tag and the semi-solid state battery variant.

The all-new MG4 EV is built on parent company SAIC’s E3 pure electric architecture and the EV is claimed to offer a range of up to 530 km (CLTC) on a full charge for the standard LFP battery pack. However, the 70 kWh semi-solid state battery pack is a highlight on the compact electric hatchback as it theoretically offers improved safety and better energy density when compared to lithium-ion batteries or solid-state batteries. In numbers, the new battery tech will offer a range of up to 537 km (CLTC) when it is launched as part of the Anxin Edition later this year.

The design of the new MG4 EV has also been completely reworked as the electric hatchback gets a more curved shape and design elements, different from the earlier version’s sharp and edgy styling. Space is expected to be ample inside the MG4 EV as it spans over 4 metres in length and 1.8 metres in width.

Other new elements include the projector LED headlamps, sporty air ducts on the side, connected LED taillamps and alloy wheels.

Will It Come To India?

Reports suggest that the new MG4 EV is expected to make its way into India by late 2025 or early 2026. However, the electric hatchback would be considered a premium offering at an expected launch price of approximately Rs 30 lakhs. That takes away one unique selling point from the MG4 EV’s arsenal for the Indian market, which was the starting price of USD 9,560 or Rs 8.5 lakh.
