Recently, the Laal Dupatta singer received the Padma Bhushan Award from the President, Droupadi Murmu. However, her appearance sparked major concerns related to her health. Even though the singer addressed the same in an Instagram post, now a new video is making rounds on social media, in which Alka Yagnik can be seen on a wheelchair.

Soon after receiving the Padma Bhushan Award on June 23, 2026, who once ruled the industry with her voice, was seen on a wheelchair. The video clip of the same is currently making rounds on social media. For those who do not know, Alka Yagnik is suffering from major hearing loss, due to which her chances of returning to playback singing are very less. For the award ceremony, Alka opted for a beige-hued suit with minimal yet statement jewellery. It is worth noting that Alka received the prestigious award for her contributions to Indian music.

Alka Yagnik opens up about her health, fans demand her comeback
Hours after Alka Yagnik received the honorary award from President, Droupadi Murmu, the singer took to her Instagram handle to open up about her health issues, after months of radio silence. Opening up about going through a difficult phase, Alka penned:
“For the last two years, I have stayed away from the spotlight, from public appearances, and from sharing much of my journey. Many of you knew I am going through difficult health and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way.”
Later, singer, Kumar Sanu wrote, “Very well deserved Alka! God bless you.” Singer, Shaan, demanding her comeback, said, “Most Deserved Alka Ji !!! You are our pride and joy !!! And nothing would please your fans more than You finding your health and wellbeing back and finding the confidence and motivation to come back to regale us with your voice like only you can!!” Apart from them, many more fans expressed their desire to see Alka Yagnik return to playback singing.
What has happened to Alka Yagnik and will she recover?
For those who do not know, Alka Yagnik has been dealing with sensorineural hearing loss. It is a rare disease that impacts the inner ear, making it difficult for a person to hear. After the diagnosis, the singer lived a private life and rarely made any public appearance. As of now, Alka Yagnik is under treatment; however, she recently revealed that she is unable to sing for films. In 2024, Alka opened up about her diagnosis and shared:
“To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, as I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything. It has been diagnosed by my docs as a rare sensorineural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack. This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unaware.”
