38-year-old Vedpal, admitted in Aligarh hospital, was shot dead. The matter is related to a 5 year old love affair. Police have arrested the woman’s constable father, while the main accused, a PAC jawan, is absconding.
There was a stir in a private hospital in Aligarh late on Monday night when a 38-year-old patient admitted there was shot with bullets. Panic spread among other patients and attendants present on the spot. It is being told that two armed people including a Pradesh Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawan entered the hospital and started firing. The victim, Vedpal Singh, was immediately taken to a major medical center, but he died by Tuesday afternoon.
The affair was going on for 5 years
In the initial investigation of the police, it has turned out to be a love affair. Vedpal had an affair with a woman from Mathura for the last five years. But the girl’s family was against this relationship and they had fixed her marriage elsewhere earlier this year. Vedpal allegedly tried to break the marriage, after which he was arrested and sent to jail for some time. That marriage broke up, but the woman later got married to someone else. Despite this, his family continued to blame Vedpal.
Devendra Constable in UP Police
Officials have confirmed that the woman’s father Devendra Chaudhary has been arrested from Mathura. Devendra is a constable in UP Police and is posted in Baghpat. At the same time, the woman’s cousin Bhupendra Chaudhary, a 28-year-old PAC jawan, and one of his associates are the main accused in this attack. Police have registered a case under section 103 of BNS for murder and are searching for the remaining accused.
Family relationships and increasing tension
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said that preliminary investigation has revealed that there was a lot of resentment in Vedpal’s family due to the long-running relationship between Vedpal and the woman. The family alleged that Vedpal had created obstacles in the girl’s marriage, due to which she was receiving constant threats.
Was studying law and practicing law
Vedpal was a resident of Ahraula village of Khair. He had undergone operation for a fracture in his hand on the same day of the attack. His cousin Kuldeep Tomar told reporters that Vedpal had studied law and worked with a lawyer. Kuldeep insisted that Vedpal’s relationship with the woman was genuine, but the woman’s father, brother and cousin, all of whom are in the UP Police, were strongly opposed to it.
What will UP Police do next?
This incident has raised serious questions about the involvement of law enforcement policemen in violent incidents. The pressure on the investigation has increased further with the names of serving police officers and a PAC jawan appearing in the case. At present, the police is busy searching for Bhupendra Chaudhary and his partner.
