Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, known for her candidness, once surprised everyone, including host Karan Johar, on ‘Koffee With Karan’ by revealing she started ‘dating’ in Class 6. This revelation came during her 2013 debut on the popular chat show alongside her ‘Student of The Year’ co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.
Johar, prompted by Varun Dhawan, mentioned Alia’s alleged ‘string of young boyfriends.’ Playfully refuting the ‘string’ part, Alia clarified, “I wouldn’t call it a string, but I did have (boyfriends) and serious relationships, like two years, (then) two years.” This left a visibly shocked Karan asking if she started dating at the tender age of 10. Alia, laughing, explained, “That’s why I say it’s not a string. I started dating in 6th standard.”
She quickly clarified that this early ‘dating’ wasn’t a conventional relationship. “But that obviously wasn’t dating. That was just like we used to smile at each other from across the classroom.” Varun light-heartedly interjected, calling it ‘half-base,’ which Alia immediately dismissed. She then revealed her first serious relationship was in Class 10, lasting two years. “He was my first, like high-school love.” When Karan probed if she dumped him for her acting career, the ‘Jigra’ actress candidly stated, “No, he dropped me.”
Alia Bhatt’s personal life has since seen significant milestones. She married actor Ranbir Kapoor on April 14, 2022, in a private ceremony after a period of courtship. The power couple welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, in November 2022, marking a new chapter in their lives.
