Alia Bhatt Not Tall & Sexy Enough to be Prostitute?

In Bollywood, the transition is visible-not just in storytelling but also in how fresh faces are welcomed.

At the Heer Express trailer launch, veteran actor Gulshan Grover reflected thoughtfully on these shifts, especially in the way new talent is chosen and presented.

Grover recalled his experience of working with now-celebrated actresses like Rani Mukerji, Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, and Katrina Kaif-all in their debut films.

He highlighted how each of them had a distinct screen presence and went on to create their own space in the industry.

His appreciation for debutant Divita Juneja, who plays the lead in Heer Express, echoed his belief that with the right opportunity, newcomers can also make a lasting impact.

Importantly, Grover also spoke on how casting choices have evolved.

He mentioned that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s decision to cast Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi was a bold one, especially for a role that traditionally might have gone to a taller, fuller-figured actress.

By choosing Alia, the filmmaker challenged long-held notions of physicality in period films, focusing instead on performance and presence.

With new voices and changing perspectives guiding cinema today, Bollywood’s definition of a ‘leading lady’ seems more inclusive-and far more promising.
