Actors Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn talked about standing together and helping each other in the film industry. At an event recently, both the action superstars drew a comparison between the way the Mumbai film industry and the South Indian film industry work.
The actors were present at the Hindustan Times event on Saturday, November 16, when they made the statement. Akshay first said, “I agree that we don’t have much unity. I don’t know what Ajay thinks,” and Ajay elaborated on the same.
When asked if the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film , Ajay explained, “That’s what I think, and that’s what I keep discussing. It’s not about openings, which are a different story together, as a lot of things come into play. But I really appreciate how they (the people in the southern industries) come together and stand for each other as an industry which, honestly speaking, we lack in the Mumbai film industry. I always want that to happen.”
He also mentioned his contemporaries, and added that at least they support each other whenever there’s a requirement, but the same is not the case with the younger generation. Ajay talked about the stars from the 90s who are still relevant and said, “As far as we are concerned, the 4-5 of us who started together in the 90s – me, Akshay, Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and others – are not in any kind of struggle or conflict. We are there for each other, and we all know that. You will never see that conflict between us.”
Akshay agreed and concluded that not just unity, but the industry also lacks ‘respect’ today. “Unity is lacking, respect is lacking, and that is a big thing,” he shared.
Both Akshay and Ajay were recently seen together in . The film is currently running in theatres, and features the two as cops, part of Shetty’s cop-verse.
