Actress Aksharaa Haasan has shared rare black-and-white childhood photographs with her parents, actor-politician Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika, expressing gratitude for being born into their family.
Sharing the pictures on Instagram, Aksharaa wrote, “Over the years these pictures are one of the best gifts I could have ever received.” Thanking Shyam Tekwani for capturing the moments, she added, “Grateful to be born to my parents. So proud of my legacy. Made me! Strength is a feeling and not just genes.”
On the professional front, Aksharaa was last seen in Simulacra, in which she played Nivi. She said the role demanded a different level of maturity and allowed her to explore new emotional complexities as an actor.
“Nivi is a very different character that I’ve played. This time I feel it required a different maturity level as a person and therefore a character,” she said, adding that the layered story helped her discover another side of herself as a performer. She described the experience as challenging and said she truly enjoyed playing the character.
Set in the near future, Simulacra depicts a society where human lives are governed by neural brain chips and technology companies allow people to tailor, rewrite or erase their memories. The story follows two pedestrians, Nayan, played by Satyajeet Dubey, and Nivi, played by Aksharaa Haasan, whose paths cross in a world increasingly reliant on transhumanism.
