The trailer of Akka is out, and it promises a gripping story filled with gang wars, power struggles and revenge. The Netflixseries is set in Perunuru in 1985, a village dominated by women and ruled by Akka, played by Keerthy Suresh.
She is introduced as a powerful smuggler whose authority remains unquestioned. However, her world faces a major challenge when another influential woman from Mumbai, played by Radhika Apte, enters the scene.
What follows is a fierce battle for power, with both women determined to establish their supremacy. The biggest highlight is Keerthy Suresh in a never-before-seen avatar. Her Hindi diction, commanding screen presence and intense performance make a strong impression in the trailer.
Radhika Apte is equally impressive, bringing tremendous intensity to her character. The face-off between these two talented performers looks like one of the series’ biggest attractions.
The production design is another major strength while the visuals and background score add to the drama and scale. Going by the trailer, Akka could be a winner if the content matches its impressive presentation.
Directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka is produced by Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra, with John Eduri composing the music. Streaming on Netflix from October 30, the series looks like a promising combination of strong female characters and intense drama.
