Ajit Pawar’s death: What transpired in last 26 minutes before the plane carrying the NCP leader crashed

New Delhi: The airplane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed at the Baramati Airport on Thursday. It led to the death of 5 people, including Pawar. Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended upon the entire state. The entire Pawar clan and the people of Maharashtra are in deep shock, following the death of the popular leader.

What transpired in the last half an hour before the plane crash?

The exact reason for the plane crash is not yet known. Though investigations are on in the matter. The last half an hour or more specifically 26 minutes of the plane while it was air bound is important. Here is what transpired in the last 26 minutes before the plane crashed.

The flight took off from Mumbai for Baramati on the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026. At around 8:18 am, the pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and told them that the runway at Baramati was not clearly visible. Despite low visibility, the pilot tried to land on the runway, but the landing had to be aborted immediately. The plane was once again flown up in the air.

After this, the pilot once again asked for permission from the ATC to land. At around 8:43 am, the pilot said that she could see the runway. However at around 8:44 am to 8:45 am, a fire was visible near the runway and within minutes, the plane had crashed.

A major question which arises now, following the crash, is what exactly happened after the pilot asked for landing permission from the ATC. When everything was normal, while the pilot was attempting to land, how did the aircraft crash within minutes? Questions are also being raised on why the pilot decided to land despite poor visibility.

People are also asking whether it was possible for the plane to land in either Pune or at some other airport, if the weather did not permit landing in Baramati. Why and how was the contact with ATC broken?

Is it a technical failure or something else?

People are also asking whether the plane crashed due to a technical failure or the pilot lost control of the aircraft suddenly. Did the engine of the aircraft fail, all of a sudden.

Questions are also being raised about whether the pilot followed all safety protocols while landing. Was the plane at the right height and optimum speed while landing. These and several other questions remain unanswered as of now.

The investigation into this air tragedy is being carried out by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The real cause of the accident will be revealed only after examining the black box, pilot conversations, weather reports, and technical records.

This incident leaves behind several unanswered questions, the answers to which are awaited by the entire country.
