But it doesn’t matter to me. Because I understood one thing from whatever happened, whatever I did, saw, or showed in the past seven years: In this world, every person’s truth is different, as are their rights. My truth and right are my family. As long as things don’t stop, as long as others don’t fail, I will stand here, like a chowkidar (gatekeeper) and a wall.”

About the Drishyam franchise

Drishyam, the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, released in 2015 and introduced audiences to Vijay Salgaonkar – a quiet, middle-class family man from Goa whose sharp mind helps him protect his loved ones after a murder turns their lives upside down. Directed by the late Nishikant Kamat, the film struck a chord with viewers and went on to become a major box-office success, earning Rs 197 crore worldwide.

The overwhelming response led to Drishyam 2, which hit theatres in 2022 and raised the stakes further. The sequel outperformed its predecessor, collecting an impressive Rs 345 crore globally and cementing the franchise’s place among Bollywood’s most successful crime thrillers. Following its success, the makers officially confirmed plans for Drishyam 3.

The third instalment is being directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. Meanwhile, the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3, starring Mammootty, is also expected to release in 2026.
