Airtel has discontinued data-only plans of Rs 121 and Rs 181 with 30 days validity. These plans provided data and OTT benefits. There are now other data packs available for customers starting at Rs 100.
New Delhi: Private telecom operators of the country are quietly making changes in their data plans. According to a report by Telecom Talk, Bharti Airtel has discontinued two data-only plans with a validity of 30 days. Airtel has removed the Rs 121 and Rs 181 prepaid plans, which came with OTT benefits. Airtel customers used both these plans to top-up data in their existing recharge plans. These Rs 121 and Rs 181 Airtel plans used to provide high-speed data.
Airtel secretly removed 2 popular plans
In the prepaid plan of Rs 121, users got a total of 8 GB data (6 GB base + 2 GB extra) on recharge through Airtel Thanks app. The validity of this recharge plan was thirty days. Whereas, Airtel plan of Rs 181 used to give 15 GB data for 30 days. The Rs 181 plan also included premium subscription of Airtel Xstream Play for 30 days. Through this, access to more than 25 OTT platforms like Netflix, JioHotstar, SonyLIV was available. After removing two plans with 30 days validity, Airtel is now offering recharge options of Rs 100, 161, 195 and Rs 361.
With the removal of Rs 121 data pack, the number of packs and plans offering exclusive benefits on Airtel Thanks app has reduced. When a customer recharges through the Airtel Thanks app, Airtel offers extra data on certain packs. According to the report of Telecom Talk, now only Rs 77 data pack is giving such benefit. If they want data only plans, now Airtel customers will have to choose other plans. According to the report, the Rs 121 and Rs 181 plans have been removed from the Airtel Thanks app.
Now you can use these other recharge plans
Now customers will have to choose other recharge plans. The cheapest data plan is Rs 100. It gives 6 GB data with a validity of 30 days. During the recharge plan period, you get access to Sony Liv and 20 other OTT apps as part of the Airtel Xstream Play subscription.
Those who need more data can recharge with the Rs 161 data pack, which will give 12 GB data in the same validity period. Airtel also offers a pack worth Rs 195, which is known as the ‘Best Cricket Pack’. According to the telecom service provider (TSP), customers get 12 GB data and free subscription of JioHotstar mobile for one month. It also includes free Airtel Xstream Play subscription. The last 30-day recharge plan is priced at Rs 361. In this, customers get 50 GB data for 30 days. After the quota is reached, data usage will be charged at 50 paise per MB.
