Travellers flying with Air India from Ahmedabad should note an important change. Starting 29 March 2026, the airline will move all its domestic flights to Terminal 2 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Until now, Air India’s domestic flights from Ahmedabad (AMD) have operated from Terminal 1. But from March 29, both domestic and international Air India flights will depart from the same terminal, making the travel process simpler and more organised.
What Exactly Is Changing?
Air India currently operates around 210 domestic flights every week to and from Ahmedabad. All of these flights will shift to Terminal 2 from March 29.
International flights were already operating from Terminal 2, so this move brings everything under one roof. For passengers, this means there will be no need to switch terminals depending on the destination.
Why Terminal 2?
Terminal 2 at Ahmedabad Airport (AMD) is newer and more spacious. The idea is to make the journey smoother, faster, and more comfortable.
Here is what travellers can expect:
- Large terminal area spread across 49,000 square metres
- 52 check-in counters to reduce waiting time
- Self baggage drop kiosks for quicker check-in
- DigiYatra facilities for faster entry using facial recognition
- Multiple immigration counters and e-gates
- More shops, food outlets, and seating areas
Overall, Terminal 2 is designed to handle more passengers while offering better comfort and convenience.
Passengers Already Being Informed
Air India has started informing passengers about this change through SMS and email. If you have booked a flight from Ahmedabad after March 29, it is a good idea to check your ticket carefully.
Always confirm the terminal before leaving for the airport to avoid confusion at the last minute.
What This Means for Travellers
Putting all Air India flights in one terminal makes travel easier, especially for those with connecting journeys. It also reduces the chances of reaching the wrong terminal, which can be stressful.
If you are flying from Ahmedabad soon, remember one simple thing: From 29 March 2026, Air India flights will operate only from Terminal 2.
Checking this small detail can save time and help your journey start smoothly.
