Air India plane skids on Mumbai runway, three tyres burst amid heavy rain

Mumbai: An Air India flight from Kochi to Mumbai veered off the runway while landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Monday morning, reportedly due to intense rainfall in the city.

Tyres burst, engine may be damaged

Flight AI 2744, an A320 aircraft (VT-TYA), landed at 09:27 AM and shortly after touchdown, veered off the runway. Preliminary reports suggest the poor weather led to the incident. Sources said three tyres burst during landing, and there may be damage to the engine. Despite the mishap, the aircraft was able to taxi safely to the terminal. All passengers and crew disembarked without injury.
