What is RAT?
RAT is a small fan, which is used to provide electricity and hydraulic power to the aircraft during the emergency. Its full name is RAM Air Turbine. It exits the bottom of the aircraft and gives the necessary power by moving from air pressure. Through this, important systems like radio, flight control and hydraulic systems continue to work. When both engines of the aircraft stop working or the main power system fails, then RAT automatically turns on. The pilot can also turn it on it manually. It provides emergency power supply to control the pilot aircraft and keep the aircraft safe.
