Apart from this, a book of Ahoi Mata’s fast story is required.

How to worship Ahoi Ashtami?

  • On the day of Ashtami, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes.
  • Draw a picture of Ahoi Mata on the wall, in which porcupine and moon and stars are also made or install the picture of Mata.
  • Then fill an earthen or copper urn with water and install it at the place of worship.
  • Light a lamp near the Kalash, which should remain burning during the entire puja.
  • Wishing for the long life of your children, take a pledge to observe Nirjala fast.
  • Decorate Ahoi Mata with roli, kumkum, rice, turmeric, flower garland, incense sticks and lamps.
  • Then offer fruits, sweets and puri to Ahoi Mata.
  • After this listen or read the story of Ahoi Mata.
  • At the end of the puja, perform Aarti of Ahoi Mata.
  • In the evening, after looking at the stars, take some grains of wheat or rice in your hand and offer Arghya to them and offer water.

  • Things like knives or scissors should not be used on the day of Ahoi Ashtami.

The fast of Ahoi Ashtami is broken by gazing at the stars when the sun rises. In the evening, fasting mothers worship Ahoi Ashtami Mata, look at the stars and offer water to her.
