India’s hosting journey began on 9 January 2025 when Commonwealth Sport sent a ‘Letter of Intent’ to India. After this, on 29 January 2025, Commonwealth Sport chiefs visited Gujarat and reviewed the preliminary preparations.

India’s formal commitment – ​​March 2025

On March 13, 2025, India expressed its formal desire to host by submitting a ‘Letter of Intent’. After this, the first virtual kick-off meeting was held on 29 April 2025, in which the timelines and process of documents were decided.

Appointment of expert agency – May 2025

An expert advisory agency was appointed for the technical development of the bid in May 2025.

London meeting and assessment – ​​June to August 2025

In June 2025, the Indian delegation visited London and met Commonwealth sports officials. On 3 August 2025, the Commonwealth Sports team came to Ahmedabad and assessed the venue and facilities.

Formal presentation – September 2025

On 23 September 2025, India gave a detailed presentation of the vision and preparations for the Centenary Commonwealth Games.

Executive Board Recommendation – October 2025
