Patna: Ahead of Assembly election in Bihar, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Tuesday announced 35 per cent reservation for women in the state. The quota will be provided only to the natives of Bihar. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Assembly election in Bihar is expected to be held in November or October.
Nitish govt’s big women outreach ahead of polls
The Nitish Kumar government’s decision is being seen as an attempt to woo women voters ahead of the state elections. Only women native to the state will get the benefit of 35 per cent reservation in government jobs. The decision has come in response to the long-standing demand of not giving the benefit of reservation in jobs in Bihar to women candidates who are from other states.
This is a developing story…
