A 35-year-old auto driver was burnt alive in Agra. Reason: He refused to delete the pictures of his former live-in partner. The woman and her husband are accused of murder and the police are investigating the case.
A sensational case of burning a 35 year old auto driver alive has come to light in Shahganj area of Agra. The only reason was that he had refused to delete the old photos and videos of his former live-in partner. Police said that the incident took place on February 27, when the auto driver named Chand alias Saddam was returning home after dropping his passengers. According to officials, the accused stopped him at Dauraitha, pulled him out of the auto near Bilasganj and took him to a secluded place. There they poured petrol on it and set it on fire. Hearing his screams, people nearby ran for help. He was admitted to SN Medical College, later shifted to a private hospital, where he died on Wednesday night.
Family allegations and reason for murder
Relatives allege that the woman named Shabnam lived with Chand for about two years after her husband’s death. Recently she married her brother-in-law Ali Ahmed. Since then, she was pressurizing Chand to delete the old pictures and videos of them. On Thursday, the family members kept Chand’s body on the road at Prithvinath Gate and blocked the traffic for about an hour. They ended the protest only after being assured of strict police action.

Police have registered a case against Shabnam and her husband under section 124 of the BNS (causing grievous hurt by acid or similar means). Police say that more sections will be added after the postmortem report comes. ACP (Lohamandi) Gaurav Singh confirmed that all evidence including CCTV footage is being examined. He said further legal action would be taken based on the results of the investigation.
