Husband Wife Age Gap: MP High Court allowed a 19 year old girl to live with her lover instead of her 40 year old husband. The girl cited the 21-year age difference and insult as the reasons. The court will keep an eye on him for 6 months.
Bhopal: A unique case has come to light from Madhya Pradesh. Here a 19 year old girl refused to live with her 40 year old husband. After this the court allowed the girl to live with her lover. This decision has been given by the Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Actually, the 40 year old husband had filed a Habeas Corpus petition in the court. His allegation was that a man named Anuj Kumar had forcibly kept his 19 year old wife with him. On this the police found the girl and presented her before the court.
The girl told the biggest truth in the court
The girl told in the court that she did not want to live with her husband. She said, “There is an age gap of 21 years between me and my husband. This is having a very bad effect on our relationship and I also feel humiliated at times.”
Girl’s lover made a promise to the judge
The court gave the girl time to reconsider her decision and also got her counselled, but she remained adamant on going with her boyfriend. The girl’s boyfriend also assured the court that he would take full care of her.
The judge gave permission to leave her husband and go with her lover.
After the girl attained majority and stood by her decision, the bench of Justice Anand Pathak and Justice Pushpendra Yadav allowed her to go with her lover. However, the court has also made it clear that it will keep an eye on the girl and her partner for the next six months.
