Justice Delivered To Harassed Girls: All the laws that have been made in India for the safety of girls. Despite this, there is no profit in crimes against women including molestation. The biggest reason for this is that due to their stigma, most of the girls do not lodge complaints. In such cases, family members refuse to report the girls. They fear that if the matter escalates, the girl will be defamed. However, now NGOs and social workers also help girls against such cases.
Teasing girls in the dark of night proved costly
A video shared on the Reddit account r/CriticalThinkingIndia shows two men chasing two girls. This video was recorded as evidence, as the girls admitted that they faced severe threats and abuse from these men, including death threats if they went to the police. Eventually a social worker named “Jagga” beats up these men. Frankly, I think strict and immediate action should be taken against such people, especially considering how slow and unreliable the Indian judiciary can be in such cases.
Still, these two should also ideally be put behind bars, although I wonder if that will happen. What do you all think about this situation?
Lack of awareness against crimes against women
Crimes against women such as rape, molestation, domestic violence, femicide, and trafficking are serious problems in India. There are many laws available against them, such as POCSO Act, Anti-Dowry Act, Domestic Violence Act. Yet just making laws is not enough to ensure women’s safety. It is important to change the thinking towards women in the society, raise voice fearlessly against criminals, increase social support and sensitize those in power on this issue. The efforts of helplines and NGOs are important for the protection of victims.
