The police has disclosed this sensational case which happened in Dewarhippargi of Vijayapura district after 24 days. The police have arrested the accused husband. Investigation revealed that the husband had committed this crime after a fight over loan money.
The deceased woman has been identified as 44-year-old Sarojini Prabhu Ratnakar, a resident of Dewarhippargi. At the same time, her 46-year-old husband Prabhu Ratnakar is the accused of murder. Accused Prabhu was a contractor by profession and had accumulated a lot of debt. He had given checks to many people in the name of his wife Sarojini. A check bounce case related to this was also going on against Sarojini in Yadgiri District Court. Sarojini was pressurizing her husband to repay the loan. There used to be frequent fights between husband and wife regarding this matter.

According to the police, there was a fight between the two on the same issue on the night of 24th January. In anger, Prabhu Ratnakar hit his wife on the head with the pestle used to crush spices. Sarojini died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. After this, Prabhu dug a pit in the courtyard of the house and buried the body in it. Then on February 2, he reached Dewarhippargi police station and filed a report that his wife had gone to get groceries from the grocery store, but did not return. He told that he has searched everywhere for her, but there is no trace of her. He also pretended to search for his wife along with his relatives.
Truth confessed in police investigation
During the investigation of the case, the police became suspicious of Prabhu. When he was strictly interrogated, he broke down and confessed to his crime. He told that he had murdered his wife. The police have arrested him on charges of murder. On his instructions, the body was taken out of the pit and handed over to the family members after postmortem.
