Actor Sunil Shetty has moved the Bombay High Court for the protection of his personality rights. He has demanded an immediate ban on commercial use of his photographs and deepfakes.
Popular Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty has approached the Bombay High Court demanding protection of his personality rights. He claims that many social media pages and websites are using his photographs to promote their businesses without any permission. Along with this, Sunil has demanded from the court to order all the websites to immediately remove his pictures and stop using them in future.

Sunil also mentioned a case in which deepfake photographs of him and his granddaughter were made. The bench of Justice Arif Doctor briefly heard Sunil’s lawyer Birendra Saraf on October 10 and reserved its decision on the petition. Saraf said that some websites have fake pictures of Shetty and his grandson. The petition claimed that the actor’s photographs were being used commercially without any permission. Apart from this, Sunil’s lawyer said that the website of a real estate agency and a gambling site had posted his photograph. However, the actor has no affiliation with them. The actor claimed in his petition that he has the right to his personality and photographs and using them publicly without authority is damaging his reputation.
