Afghanistan cricketer makes emotional appeal to India, seeks help after air strikes by Pakistan

New Delhi: Afghanistan cricketer Allah Ghazanfar, on Wednesday, made an emotional appeal to India seeking help after deadly Pakistan air strikes in country’s capital Kabul. As many 400 people were killed and around 250 were injured after lethal air strikes from Pakistan hit a drug rehabilitation facility in Kabul.

The strikes led to massive destruction destroying a big 2000-bed  complex as workers had to be rescued through the debris. Pakistan, however, denied the allegations of targeting civilians saying that the operation for targeted at a terrorist infrastructure.

The strikes took place late on Monday night. The incident showcase the deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan with both the countries engaged in cross-border war from past few days. Meanwhile, spinner Allah, who also plays in the IPL for Mumbai Indians made an appeal to the international community especially India seeking immediate support.

‘The people there don’t have money for treatment. And now, they’ve targeted that place as well; they’ve martyred those people. This is not acceptable to the people of Afghanistan,’ he told News18.

‘I don’t know what they’re trying to prove. They come and target ordinary people, and we simply cannot accept this. Afghanistan cannot accept this,’ Ghazanfar added.

The cricketer further said that everyone knows Afghanistan’s history and if that history repeats itself, it will be very bad for Pakistan.

‘India is our close friend. We want to engage with them, to talk about these issues, so that things like this don’t happen. This is our request to other countries too. This is not good for the people. Right now, the world is going through many challenges, and this is not good for anyone,’ he said.

Earlier, some other Afghanistan cricketers like Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi also expressed sadness on the killings of civilians in the country.
