Aditi Malik reacts to pregnancy rumours after body-shaming: ‘It’s a mother’s body, I don’t take shortcuts’

Actress and television personality Aditi Malik has spoken out against body-shaming and online assumptions after a social media post led some users to speculate that she was pregnant because of the way her stomach appeared while she was sitting.

Addressing the comments in a video shared on social media, Aditi urged people to be more thoughtful before commenting on another person’s appearance.

“You put on weight, you have a lot of weight on your stomach, oh your face looks bloated,” she said, highlighting the kind of remarks people often make casually.

Aditi said such comments may appear insignificant to those making them but can have a much deeper impact on the person receiving them.

“I feel everyone should be a little more considerate when they comment, whether it’s in person or on social media,” she said.

Recalling a post she had shared a few days earlier, Aditi said several people assumed she was pregnant after noticing her stomach while she was sitting.

“Two-three days ago, I posted a post where people thought I was pregnant. Because the way I was sitting, I could see my paunch, my stomach,” she said.

The actress said she remains comfortable with her body and does not allow such remarks to affect her self-image.

“I honestly am not very conscious about all this because I love my body, I respect my body, it’s a mother’s body,” Aditi said, adding that she considers being healthy more important than conforming to appearance-related expectations.

“So I don’t take any shortcuts,” she said, while acknowledging that maintaining health can be challenging amid daily responsibilities and food habits.

Aditi also urged social media users to remember the impact their words can have on others.

“Comments matter a lot. Whatever we comment about, we don’t know when that thing hurts someone,” she said.

Alongside the video, she shared a message asking people to pause before making assumptions about others and consider whether they would make the same comment in person.

Aditi is married to actor Mohit Malik. The couple welcomed their son, Ekbir, in 2021.

On the professional front, Aditi has appeared in television shows including ShararatBanoo Main Teri DulhannMeri Awaaz Ko Ho Gayi RoshniPyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do and Kumkum Bhagya, among other projects.
