When will the Adhik month of Jyeshtha start?
According to the Panchang, this time the Adhik month of Jyeshtha will start from Sunday, May 17 and will continue till Monday, June 15. Many fasts and festivals will be celebrated in this month. There will be fast and festival of Ganga Dussehra on 26th May, Kamla Ekadashi on 27th May and 11th June. Due to the coincidence of Amavasya and Monday on 15th June, the last day of Adhik month, there will be a rare coincidence of Somvati Amavasya.

Why are there more periods?
According to astrologers, the Moon takes 355 days to revolve around the Earth 12 times and the Earth takes 365 days to revolve around the Sun. In this way, every year there is a difference of 10 days between the lunar year and the solar year. To overcome this difference, Adhik Maas was arranged every third year. Due to Adhik Maas, all Hindu fasts and festivals are celebrated in certain seasons.
