The Adani Group is planning to invest Rs 30,000 crore for the expansion of Navi Mumbai International Airport. This airport is going to start in December. Senior Officers of Adani Airport Holdings said that this information has been given before the inauguration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The group has already spent Rs 20,000 crore for this Greenfield Airport and now the design of the second terminal has started. The new investment will be for the next phase, which is planned to complete by 2029. One officer said that the design of the second terminal has started and we hope that it will be operational by 2029.
The company will raise money from loan and equity for this phase. The Adani Group is thinking of listing its airport holding company, but no timeline has been told yet. The Maharashtra government has 26% stake in this project, the rest of the Adani Group. On completion, Navi Mumbai Airport will have a capacity of 9 crore passengers per year (MPPA).
This week will be inaugurated
The first phase will be inaugurated this week, which will have a capacity of 2 crore passengers per year from a runway, and it will handle both domestic and international flights. The airport has finalized the deal with Akasa Air, Indigo and Air India. The officer said that the capacity of our first phase will be almost fulfilled. Initially there will be 20-23 flights every hour, and it can be increased later.
Capacity will increase in second phase
The second phase will increase the capacity of 3 crore passengers, a large cargo terminal and India’s largest maintenance, repair and overhaall facility, which will have 5 big hangars. On its completion, cargo terminal will handle 38 lakh tonnes of goods per year, which will make Navi Mumbai a big cargo hub in the country. The officer said that our goal is to make Mumbai and Navi Mumbai a cargo hub.
There is no cargo hub in India right now, and Navi Mumbai will change it. ”Group’s plan is to develop Navi Mumbai as an international passenger hub like Dubai. The design of the airport will be such that international transfer is easy, without repeated security and customs check. This airport will finally reach 10 million passengers with four terms.
Airport will play an important role in aviation
There will also be an automated transport system, underground fuel system and efficient cargo-pacific network. Adani Group, which runs 8 airports in India, wants to make Navi Mumbai a center of aviation strategy. An officer said that Navi Mumbai will play a big role, given the need of India’s economic growth, manufacturing and global aviation hub.
