Adani company is buying apples in Himachal Pradesh
There is good news for apple farmers of Himachal Pradesh. Adani Agri Fresh Limited (AAFL) has started this year’s apple procurement campaign. The company has fixed the price of Rs 85 per kg for the best quality large quality large quality colors with 80 to 100 per cent colors. This is 5 rupees more than last year. Shopping has started from 24 August. Farmers in Rohru, Rampur and Tutu-Pani can sell their crops directly to their crop company. At the same time, purchases will start from August 25 in Sainz and Jarol-Tikkar and from August 28 in Rekong-Pio.
Apple prices different according to color and size
The Adani company has fixed different prices this time on the basis of apple color and size. Apples with 80 to 100 percent colored come in premium category. In this category, extra larger apple will be purchased Rs 45 per kg, LMS apple Rs 85, extra small Rs 75, extra extra small Rs 65 and the smallest sees will be purchased at Rs 45 per kg.
Apples with 60 to 80 percent colored are kept in the Supreme category. It has an extra large apple Rs 35, LMS 65 rupees, Extra Small Rs 55, Extra Extra Small Rs 45 and Pittu Apple Rs 35 per kg. Apples which will have less than 60 percent color, they will get Rs 24 per kg for all size. It also contains rejected (ROL) apples. The smallest apple, which is called extra extra large or US, will buy Rs 20 per kg, no matter what color.
Big business of apple in Himachal
About 11 lakh hectares of land in Himachal Pradesh is for farming. Out of this, about 2 lakh hectares are fruits, and more than one lakh hectares are only apple orchards. Meaning apple is half of the fruit production here. About 5.5 lakh metric tons of apples are produced every year in Himachal. It contributes more than Rs 5,500 crore to the state’s economy. Adani currently buys about 8 percent of this production. The company hopes that this share will increase further with the introduction of the new digital market.

A spokesperson of Adani Agri Fresh said, “This time we are starting purchasing at a price of Rs 85 per kg for LMS grade of 80 to 100 percent colored premium apples. This is 5 rupees more than last year. Our aim is to give the right price to farmers and maintain quality. The company has built procurement centers in many areas of the state so that farmers can sell their crops easily. This will increase the income of farmers and strengthen the apple business of Himachal.
