Navi Mumbai International Airport

The new international airport being built in Navi Mumbai has now reached the final stages of its construction. Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (NMIL) is developing this project. It is being built on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with 74% of Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), a subsidiary of Adani Airports Holdings Limited and 26% of CIDCO.

This airport will meet the growing air travel needs of Mumbai metropolitan region and western India. It is designed as a greenfield project, that is, a modern and durable airport is being completely renewed.

National flower lotus inspired design

The new airport is being built in Ulve, Navi Mumbai, which is about 37 km from South Mumbai. It will have two parallel code F runway, which will have a length of 3,700 meters and width will be 60 meters. The design of the airport is inspired by India’s national flower lotus. The roof of the terminal will be like lotus petals, which will support 12 beautiful columns.

In the first phase, about 2 crore passengers will be able to travel every year from the airport, while in the final phase its capacity will be increased by 9 crore passengers annually. A total of 4 terminals are planned, in which integrated domestic and international terminals will start in the first phase.

Automated cargo system will be held at the airport

Under the cargo facility, 5 lakh tonnes of goods can be handled in the first phase, which will later be increased to 32 lakh tonnes of annual capacity. It will have modern features such as fully automated cargo systems, 100% shipment tracking and temperature controlled zone.

The airport will be connected to the contactless process like 5G network, digital tracking and Digi Yatra. Bagze tracking, smart traffic management and IOT -based monitoring system will provide state -of -the -art experience.

Indian street food will be able to enjoy the airport

Food and retail zones will have more than 110 shops and restaurants, including popular brands of Mumbai, Articenal Tea Concept and Indian Street Food. Also, duty-free area and digital experience zones are also being prepared.

International Airport

NMIL is working towards making the airport green keeping in mind the environment. This includes 47 MW solar power, rainwater harvesting, waste water reuse and use of electric vehicles.
