Palakkad: After 13 days of being absconding, Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil finally comes out of his hideout after he gets anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case. Interestingly, Mr Rahul is expected to arrive on Thursday to cast his vote in the Kerala local body elections after securing anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case filed by a 23-year-old woman.
Mamkootathil is registered to vote at St. Sebastian’s School, Kunnathurmedu, under the Palakkad Municipality. Sources close to the MLA indicate that, with no imminent threat of arrest in either of the two cases, Mamkootathil may appear in the district to vote tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government will approach the Kerala high court challenging the sessions court order which granted anticipatory bail to Rahul in the case registered following the complaint filed by a 23-year-old woman.

The Thiruvananthapuram principal sessions court has granted interim relief as the court is of the view that the defense argument that the complaint was filed against Rahul Mamkoottathil under pressure cannot be ruled out.
The court also observed that there was discrepancies in the statements filed by the complainant addressed to three people.
The bail was granted to Rahul under stringent conditions were the police team has directed him to appear before the probe team every Monday and cooperate with the probe team.
