But Abhishek is not the only Indian player to make this shameful record. There is another player also with him. This player is former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra. Like Abhishek, Nehra was also out on duck three times in a row. The only difference is that his three ducks came in two different World Cups.
Nehra’s first two ducks came against Australia and West Indies in the 2010 T20 World Cup. In both the matches, Nehra could not stay at the crease for more than a minute. These two matches took place one after the other.
After this, Nehra got a chance to bat again in the T20 World Cup in 2016. Even in that match against New Zealand in Nagpur, he was out on zero. In that match, the entire Indian team was all out for just 79 runs. The special thing is that India had to face defeat on all these three occasions. However, no Indian player holds the record of being out for a duck the most number of times in the history of the T20 World Cup. This record is in the name of Shahid Afridi of Pakistan and Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka. Both the players have returned to the pavilion 5-5 times without scoring any runs.
