Abhishek Sharma Hospitalised: The news is not good for Team India in T20 World Cup 2026. Its star opener Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to the hospital. Abhishek Sharma has stomach infection. After being admitted to the hospital, Abhishek Sharma’s hopes of playing against Namibia are now negligible. India has to play its second match against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026 on 12 February. This match is to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Was unwell during the match against USA
During the first match played against USA on 7 February, there were reports that Abhishek Sharma was not well. It was said that he played that match despite having high fever, after which his health deteriorated further.
Abhishek had a golden duck against USA. After his batting, he was not even seen in the dug out of Team India. Sanju Samson fielded in his place. Apart from Abhishek, Jasprit Bumrah was also ill. Washington Sundar was also not with the team. In such a situation, during that match, the work of serving drinks for the team was done by fielding coach T. Dilip along with Kuldeep Yadav. Abhishek did not even come for handshake after that match.
What happened to Abhishek Sharma?
On February 10, Abhishek Sharma was not even seen in the practice session of Team India. The reason for his absence was given by the team management as his stomach upset. But, according to the report of Times of India, Abhishek has suffered from infection.
While talking to the media before the practice session, Team India’s assistant coach Ryan Des Cate said that Abhishek has some complaints regarding his stomach. We hope that he will be available to take the field in the next two days.
Abhishek’s health increases Gambhir’s worries
Abhishek not coming to the practice session and Sanju Samson practicing batting vigorously means that his chances of playing against Namibia are low. Anyway, there is news that his health has deteriorated further in the last 24 hours. Abhishek with Team India was seen at Gautam Gambhir’s dinner party in Delhi on 8 February. Seeing his health there, Gambhir looked a little worried.
