Playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya remains one of the defining voices of Hindi cinema from the 1990s, with a range of chartbusters that continue to resonate with audiences. Best known for lending his voice to several of Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest hits, the veteran singer has often made headlines for his candid opinions on the music industry and Bollywood. In an exclusive conversation with Times Now Navbharat, Abhijeet revealed the name of a new-age actor he would most like to sing for. He also spoke about being associated with actors through playback singing and briefly addressed his much-discussed fallout with Shah Rukh Khan.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya Wants To Sing For Ranveer Singh
When asked which present-day actor he would like to lend his voice to, gave a one-word reply: “Dhurandhar.” Referring to Ranveer Singh’s latest blockbuster, he then added, “So far he is Dhurandhar…but if I sing for him, he will become Rockstar.”
Speaking about playback singers becoming closely associated with particular actors, Abhijeet said, “This has happened to me,but with all actors. Ever since s career took off, there is one song which everyone associate him with, it is Chunari Chunari.” Abhijeet also claimed that many leading actors in the 1990s specifically wanted him to sing for them.
The veteran singer also briefly spoke about his rift with Shah Rukh Khan. When asked what led to their fallout, he responded, “this has been spoken about several times, please just google it. I can’t talk about it.” He also said that neither he made Shah Rukh Khan a superstar nor did Shah Rukh Khan make him successful. Over the years, he has consistently stated several times that the fallout stemmed from what he believes was a lack of proper credit and recognition for playback singers.
Ranveer Singh Gears Up For Pralay
Ranveer Singh was last seen in Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar’s action spy duology, which emerged as a blockbuster at the worldwide box office. The two-part franchise reportedly grossed more than Rs 3,200 crore globally against a combined production budget of Rs 255 crore, cementing its status as one of the biggest commercial successes in recent years.
Following the phenomenal response to Dhurandhar, Ranveer is now preparing for Pralay, an ambitious zombie thriller. The film features the actor as a crusader battling a devastating zombie outbreak. It is reported that Lokah actress Kalyani Priyadarshan will also play a key role in the film marking her Hindi film debut.
