Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday credited the party’s performance in the Ramdas civic body polls to the Punjab government’s development work and the ideology of AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
Speaking to ANI on the civic body poll results, Dhaliwal alleged that opposition parties had joined hands against the AAP during the elections.
“… 3 parties are working in alliance against us – ABC, which is Akali Dal, BJP and Congress. They levelled false allegations against us… But the work and development show, and the people have recognised the development done by Bhagwant Mann. The people of Ramadas preferred the ideology of Arvind Kejriwal,” Dhaliwal said.
Meanwhile, SDM Charumita said the results for all 11 booths in Ramdas had been declared. She said the Shiromani Akali Dal candidate secured victory only at booth number 8, while AAP candidates won in the remaining booths.
Earlier in the day, counting of votes for the Punjab civic body elections began across multiple counting centres in the state amid elaborate security arrangements and tight police deployment to ensure the process remained peaceful and smooth.
Polling for 75 Municipal Councils and 20 Nagar Panchayats across Punjab was held on May 26. A total of 7,555 candidates are contesting elections for various Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in the state.
