Who was Achyut Potdar?
Achyut Potdar was born in a Marathi Brahmin family in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He graduated from Economics in 1961 and then joined the Indian Army through an emergency commission during the Indo-China War and retired from the post of Captain in 1967. Then after retirement, he worked as an executive in the Indian Oil Corporation for 25 years, and then left the job at the age of 58 in 1992. During this time he worked in the theater and then decided to act. He then made his acting debut in 1980 with Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Smita Patil’s film ‘Aakrosh’. He then acted in more than 125 films including Hindi and Marathi cinema.
