Mumbai: Bollywood’s ‘Mr Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan has once again won the hearts of fans with his simplicity. At the inaugural ceremony of ‘Red Lorry Film Festival’ held in Mumbai, he did something which is being praised everywhere. Actually, Aamir Khan was called on the stage to light the lamp at the event. As soon as Aamir, wearing a check shirt, jeans and boots, reached near the lamp, he suddenly bent down, took off his shoes and then went barefoot and lit the lamp. The video of his respect towards Indian tradition has gone viral on social media and people are praising his values.

Used to listen to Gayatri Mantra during the shooting of ‘Lagaan’

In the same event, Aamir also celebrated the completion of 25 years of his superhit film ‘Lagaan’. Recalling the shooting days of the film, he narrated an interesting anecdote. Aamir told, “Akhilendra Mishra, who played the role of Arjan in the film, used to play Gayatri Mantra while traveling in the bus. Some people in our team wanted to listen to English songs, but I insisted that only Gayatri Mantra should be heard. For six months, every day before reaching the shooting location, we all used to listen to this mantra.”

He further said, “This helped us to work in a meditative state. What is your mental state while going to work, it matters a lot. We used to travel in the bus before sunrise and listening to Gayatri Mantra in that darkness gave us a different strength.”

Oscar race and ‘Lagaan’ craze

Recalling the Oscar campaign of ‘Lagaan’, Aamir said, “At the time of the Oscars, we could do only one thing – hold a screening of the film. We were worried whether people would come or not. We used to hold shows not only for the Academy members but also for friends and common people. From the parking staff to whoever we met, we used to request everyone to watch the film. We were sure that whoever watches the film will like it. Our biggest objective at that time was People had to be brought to the theatre.”
