Aamir Khan has been keeping the buzz around ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ alive with his different statements around its release. The actor has made it available on YouTube by opting for the pay-per-view model instead of choosing an OTT platform. And for that, he even rejected massive deals from streaming giants. However, in a recent interview, Aamir shared that he is open to releasing the movie on OTT but has one condition.
Did Aamir Khan just take a U-turn on his stance about releasing the film on OTT?
On The Town podcast, Aamir Khan stated that he wanted to release the film on OTT after six months and not 60 days. However, his partners were not ready for this decision, and hence, they backed out. The actor said on the podcast, “I still feel there is an audience that would watch it on Netflix or Amazon when it does come on an OTT channel, if they so decide. But the window needs to be six months or five months.”
Khan added that his first priority is always theatres, and as per him, every movie needs to be “handled differently.”
When the host Matthew Belloni asked if the actor is open to releasing the film on OTT, Aamir replied, “Why not? I’ve always wanted my films to come on OTT platforms, but the period has to be six months.”
