Aamir Khan Productions has formally dismissed recent reports and social media posts suggesting that the actor regretted his involvement in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
The clarification came after a purported interview and a newspaper clipping circulated online, suggesting that Khan had questioned his role in the film.
The production house clarified that the actor has made no such comments or given any interview on the matter and also added that Khan is yet to watch the Rajinikanth-starrer. The issue gained attention after an alleged interview surfaced on social media, in which Aamir Khan was quoted as saying he regretted signing ‘Coolie’ and was unclear about his character’s purpose.
This prompted Aamir Khan Productions to issue an official denial: “On behalf of Mr Aamir Khan, team AKP would like to categorically state that Mr Khan has given no interview regarding the film Coolie. There seems to be a fake interview doing the rounds of social media, where Mr. Khan is supposed to have criticised the film Coolie. This is fake interview.”
His team also clarified that he hasn’t watched ‘Coolie’ yet. In the statement, his team wrote, “Mr Khan has great respect and regard for all the work that he does, and does not speak lightly about his work. The fact is that Mr. Khan is yet to see the film. Mr. Lokesh was very keen to be present when Mr. Khan would watch the film, and as a result, for one reason or the other, it’s not happened as yet.”
Highlighting the film’s commercial success, the production house commented: ” about the vision and hard work of everyone involved. Please be aware that this interview and any such news is false,” the post concluded.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’, starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan and Soubin Shahir, grossed over Rs 500 crore globally despite receiving mixed reviews. The film featured an explosive cameo by Aamir Khan. He played Daaha and appeared towards the climax of ‘Coolie’.
