Aamir Khan Drops Rental Rate Of Sitaare Zameen Par On YouTube For Independence Day, Know How Much It Costs Now

Aamir Khan is known as Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood, not only for his acting brilliance, but also for his smart and effective strategies to promote his movies.

The actor released his much-talked-about movie Sitaare Zameen Par in cinemas in June, and after some time, Aamir decided to upload the movie on YouTube, instead of choosing any other big OTT platform. He uploaded the movie on a rental model of Rs 100, and this smart move generated a lot of buzz around the movie.

Sitaare Zameen Par’s Rental Price Drops:

Aamir Khan’s unconventional strategy of the pay-per-view model generated mixed reactions from the audience. Now, the actor’s production house has made another smart move by releasing an Independence Day offer for the fans. The official page of his production house took to Instagram and uploaded a video featuring Aamir Khan. The actor extended his Independence Day greetings to the viewers and announced the offer of watching Sitaare Zameen Par for Rs 50 from August 15-17, 2025. The caption of the video read: “This Independence Day weekend, watch Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube for only ₹50.”

Aamir Khan’s Reason For Choosing YouTube:

Talking about why he made the decision to release his movie on the pay-per-view model, the actor told ETimes, “We are able to reach only 2-3% of our population in the theatrical business, even with the biggest hits. For a film like Sitaare Zameen Par, around one crore people would have seen it during its theatrical run. Given the lack of sufficient theatres, this digital model is perhaps the only way to connect with a wider audience, especially with rising internet penetration.”

Directed by RS Prasanna, the movie grossed an impressive Rs 263.42 crore globally, making it one of the top-grossing Hindi movies of the year. Sitaare Zameen Par is the spiritual sequel of Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par. The movie featured an ensemble cast of stars like Aamir Khan as Gulshan Arora, Genelia D’Souza as Sunita Arora (his wife) and Dolly Ahluwalia as Preeto (his mother), among other actors.
