UIDAI New Rules 2025: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a revision in charges for Aadhaar enrolment and update services.
The new rates took effect on October 1, 2025, and will remain in force until September 30, 2028. The authority has also notified charges for the next three-year cycle, October 1, 2028, to September 30, 2031.
The changes, notified in an Office Memorandum dated September 29, 2025, are aimed at streamlining enrolment and update processes while encouraging timely biometric updates among children and young adults.

Biometric Update Charges
Updating enrolled biometrics, such as fingerprint, iris, and photograph, will attract revised charges. For children aged 5 to 7 years, the first mandatory biometric update will remain free of cost.
Similarly, teenagers between 15 and 17 years will also get one biometric update free.
In all other cases, a charge of Rs 125 will apply during the first cycle (2025–2028).
However, in order to clear pending updates quickly, UIDAI has waived this fee for children in the 7–15-year age group until September 30, 2026.
From October 2028, the biometric update fee will increase to Rs 150.
Demographic Update Charges
Demographic updates cover details such as name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number, or email ID. If these changes are carried out along with a biometric update, they will remain free of cost.
But when done separately, residents will need to pay Rs 75 from October 2025, up from the current Rs 50. From October 2028, the fee will rise further to Rs 90.

Document Update Charges
Document update means submitting proof of identity and proof of address for Aadhaar records. UIDAI has allowed residents to update documents free of cost on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026.
Beyond that date, and at Aadhaar enrolment centres, the update will attract a charge of Rs 75 between 2025–2028, and Rs 90 in the 2028–2031 cycle.
Aadhaar Search and Printout
Residents who want to retrieve their Aadhaar number using eKYC, Find Aadhaar, or other search tools and take a coloured printout on an A4 sheet will have to pay Rs 40 between 2025 and 2028. This will rise to Rs 50 in the next cycle.
Free Aadhaar Generation
The Aadhaar enrolment process for new residents will remain free of cost, both for children aged 0–5 years and for those above 5 years. Mandatory biometric updates at 5–7 years and 15–17 years will also continue to be free.
UIDAI will reimburse registrars with financial assistance ranging between Rs 75 and Rs 125 for successful enrolments and updates during the 2025–2028 cycle. These reimbursements will be increased to Rs 90 and Rs 150 in the 2028–2031 cycle.
Home Enrolment Services
UIDAI has also introduced charges for Aadhaar home enrolment services. From October 2025, the fee has been fixed at Rs 700 (inclusive of GST). This is in addition to the regular charges for biometric or demographic updates.
For multiple residents at the same address, the first resident will pay Rs 700, while each additional resident will be charged Rs 350.
