In Madhya Pradesh, the mandatory biometric update of more than 15 lakh students has been completed under the ‘Aadhaar for Students, Now at the School Door’ initiative. This campaign is being run in collaboration with the School Education Department, State Education Center and UIDAI.

Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) of more than 15 lakh students has been successfully completed so far under the ‘Aadhaar for Students, Now School Door’ initiative, which is being run with the aim of providing simple and easy access to educational services to the students in Madhya Pradesh. This campaign is being conducted in collaboration with the School Education Department, State Education Center and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Aadhaar biometric update mandatory for admissions, scholarships and examinations
Aadhaar card with latest biometrics has been made mandatory for admission in schools, application in competitive examinations, scholarship and direct benefit transfer (DBT) schemes. The importance of biometric updates has increased further after various examination agencies including NTA, UPSC have made Aadhaar based identification mandatory for applications and examination centers in examinations like JEE, NEET.
What is Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU)?
Under mandatory biometric update, photograph, iris scan and fingerprint are updated in the Aadhaar card.
- First MBU: On completion of 5 years of age
- Second MBU: On completion of 15 years of age
This process is completely free for children in the age group of 5 to 17 years.
Schools get monitoring facility from UDISE+ portal
Through UDISE+ portal, in collaboration with UIDAI and Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, schools have been given the facility to view the status of pending MBU in their students’ Aadhaar. This system has helped schools to take necessary action in time.
Special MBU camps organized in more than 2000 schools in four months
This initiative was launched on 15 August 2025. After this, in the last four months, till 31 December 2025, special MBU camps were organized in more than 2000 schools across the state. More than 15 lakh students got their biometrics updated through these camps and Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
CBSE also gave necessary instructions to schools
In Madhya Pradesh, the regional office of CBSE has issued instructions to all CBSE schools to make students and parents aware and motivate them to complete the pending MBU soon.
The campaign will continue till the end of the academic session
This campaign will be continued by the School Education Department, State Education Center and UIDAI till the end of the current academic session. In this, special focus is being given to rural and tribal areas, so that more and more students can get the benefit of this initiative.
